Zimbabwe lifted the COSAFA Cup 2017 after a comprehensive 3-1 over Zambia in the final of the tournament on Sunday.
It was the Zambians who began the game well, forcing the Zimbabwean goalkeeper Chigova to come up two crucial saves inside the first 15 minutes. However, it was Zimbabwe who surged into the lead in the 22nd minute when Zambia goalkeeper Chibwa failed to collect a cross properly and Mutizwa capitalised.
But Zambia brought on Mundia in the 39th minute and he immediately restored parity with a stunning goal. In the second half, it was a different story altogether as Zimbabwe took control of the proceedings superbly.
They surged into the lead in the 57th minute after Mutizwa struck the post with a drive but Chawapiwa was on hand to drill the rebound home, much to the chagrin of the Zambian players.
Things would go from bad to worse for Zambia 10 minutes later when Mushure collected the ball from Chawapiwa and found the net with an accurate shot.
Zimbabwe would hold on easily to their lead and lift the trophy to seal a magnificent campaign.
